GIS Design & Implementation Project
Project Description
Muskegon County has committed to implementing an Enterprise level GIS. The GIS operations in the Equalization Department had its property maps digitized into a series of jurisdiction-based AutoCAD drawings over a series of years and by different contractors. The County recognized the need to migrate this CADD information into a fully functional and modern GIS, and build core GIS capabilities.
InfoGeographics was contracted to assist in this transfer of property mapping format, adjustment, and support GIS enterprise efforts. This entailed many tasks and training efforts with Muskegon County GIS staff.
Project Responsibilities
InfoGeographics is following a structured methodology to accomplish the project goals. These entail the following steps and methods:
Property Mapping Database Design & Migration
- AutoCAD Mapping Guide developed conversion methods and procedures.
- Geodatabase Parcel Design developed and delivered using Federal Standards and the ArcGIS Land Parcel Data Model as a template.
- Full County converted as a collaborative effort with MCGIS staff.
Training Support
- Extensive training has been conducted on a variety of subjects including conversion, enterprise geodatabase, IMS administration, and more.
GIS Strategic Planning
- Extensive survey and interview efforts were carried out to gather information necessary to plan for the future of the GIS program.
- A GIS Strategic Plan was developed and delivered to guide the GIS program.
GIS Enterprise Implementation
- System and architecture planning served as a basis for core Enterprise GIS implementation. ArcGIS Server based enterprise and application infrastructure has been implemented with IGI assistance.
- ArcGIS Server/ArcSDE enterprise geodatabase fully operational.
- ArcGIS Server IMS websites serving interal County, External agencies, and the general public with different levels of security.
- InfoGeographics GeoConnector and MapApp software products are used for core operations.
