GIS Addressing Planning, Database & Applications

Project Description

The Milwaukee County Automated Mapping and Land Information System (MCAMLIS) is a public-private consortium established in 1990. MCAMLIS was formed to develop, maintain, and coordinate the automated mapping base essential for the creation of a modernized land information system for Milwaukee County. One of the major goals for MCAMLIS is the development of an Enterprise Addressing System (EAS) that will deliver a common address framework and application tools.

MCAMLIS has contracted with InfoGeographics to provide services to support a number of MCAMLIS initiatives. Most of these efforts are related to the EAS development and supporting web mapping and coordination technologies.

Project Responsibilities

InfoGeographics has followed a structured methodology to accomplish the various project goals. Here are some of the initiatives IGI has assisted with:

EAS Project Plan
  • An EAS Project Plan was produced as the result of a collaborative effort with MCAMLIS staff and addressing stakeholders and program participants. The Plan is intended to guide implementation of the EAS.
EAS Database Design & Data Integration
  • IGI has worked closely with MCAMLIS staff to develop an elegant and efficient geodatabase design for comprehensive capture and maintenance of address information supporting centerline, parcel, and structure levels.
  • Existing data for the North Shores area has been integrated into the geodatabase design, edited, QC'd, and reconciled with the Countywide, phone company-maintained Master Street Address Guide (MSAG).
Addressing Suite & GIS Applications
  • IGI has delivered a number of GIS applications to MCAMLIS including MapApp, Address Maintenance Tools, Addressing Quality Control Tools, Advanced Geocoder Tool, and JoinEvaluator. These applications have been customized as necessary to support EAS and other databases at MCAMLIS.
Milwaukee County Land Information Office (MCLIO) SharePoint Site
  • IGI modified the draft MCLIO Secure SharePoint site to meet the goals of making it as user friendly as possible for all program participants.
