Conversion

Conversion

Conversion and creation of data into a suitable format can be one of the biggest investments in GIS, especially for those just starting out. Converting data to match its intended use can cover activities such as digitization of analog (paper, mylar) maps and information, conversion of existing digital data such as Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) drawings, integration and spatial referencing of tabular databases, or some combination of all these.

InfoGeographics has successfully performed conversion projects of many types with a variety of sources in the areas of property/cadastral, street centerline, address/structure locations, water/wastewater/stormwater systems, electric systems, and more. These projects have ranged in size from small city/township areas to multi-county regions.

Some of the particular areas of IGI conversion expertise is performing AutoCAD to GIS transformations; exporting GIS or CADD electric system data into MultiSpeak format for use in software systems such as MilSoft; and reconciling E911 street centerline and address location mapping and Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) databases with other similar data, such as traditionally kept address databases at cities and counties.
