It was an incredible 2017 at the National Cherry Festival. The weather was near perfect for the hundreds of events that took place. Thousands of people choosing events with phone in hand vs. traditional paper. The app currently has 39,465 downloads and over 1,900,000 page views . End users were able to see all events by day, buy tickets to any of the shows, concerts or tours, enter to win tickets, view accommodations, airport schedules, get local offers and many other options within the app.

IGI enhanced the app this year by introducing story maps that allowed users to find everything from the nearest bathroom to the best public parking. This included one click directions by car or walking to the desired location. IGI also used technology to deliver advertisements to users according to proximity (Geofencing/Beacon) and produced an 11% overall take rate per ad.

The analytics package provided by IGI will also assist the festival and others with planning for the incredible amount of people that arrive in Traverse City in future years.

Thank you to everyone that works hard to put this incredible show on every year! We look forward to additional technology enhancements in 2018 that will continue to bring value to both the Festival and its fans.

If you are a City, County or have a festival, event or conference with a large fan base, it may be time to look at how an app can enhance the overall end user experience while providing an incredible way to communicate with your audience and build loyalty to your brand.

What a great time of sharing at the Esri Northern Michigan User Group meeting at the US Forest Service in Mio. Jay Wagester from InfoGeographics shared an Esri Web GIS technology update that opened our eyes to new options along with a brief on the launch of the MapChecker app. Larry LaCrosse from Traverse City DPS gave us a look into how he and his team used SAW grant funds and how progressive use of GIS applications can bring critical and factual information to those that need to make financial decisions in a community. Brian Jarner then gave us a look into how the US Forest Service uses GIS to manage many projects and studies (the next time you see him, ask him how the turtle is doing). Everett Root took time out to update us on what is happening at the State level in relation to GIS, imagery and LiDAR. And finally, Michael Revesi gave us a great presentation on how GIS is being used in Massasauga Rattlesnake Conservation at Camp Grayling. This was a very impressive study that looked at activity in forest, clear cut, controlled (and not so controlled) burns, and how they affect overall behavior. As a bonus, on the drive home, we were able to witness a controlled burn by the US Forest Service in action! We would expect that after all of this excitement, we will see you at the next ENMUG meeting!

Traverse City, Michigan--InfoGeographics Inc. is pleased to announce that it has published MapChecker, an App on the Apple, Google Play, and Microsoft Stores.

Administrators of web mapping sites are responsible for those sites being up and healthy. When a site stops working or becomes hobbled, it is sometimes difficult to find out what is happening, especially if the administrator is not in the office or can access central resources.

MapChecker is a mobile tool designed to examine the status of underlying resources for web mapping sites, being particularly designed for use with Esri ArcGIS Online (AGOL), Esri Portal for ArcGIS and Geocortex Essentials. This tool will report on the status of AGOL and Portal Web Maps and Geocortex Essentials Sites and the underlying services and features. Simple flags indicate up/down status with additional information, and error messages for problem resources to help diagnose any issues.

The best news is MapChecker Basic is FREE on the app stores for use with public sites and publicly available resources. Sites that implement authentication can be checked with a simple in-app subscription purchase for MapChecker Pro.
“We are very pleased to provide another useful tool for GIS and IT administrators. This app will increase the ability for administrators to check the health and status of their web mapping resources when out of the office. We look forward to continuing to provide effective apps that provide operational support and enhance the end user experience.” says James Bennett, President of InfoGeographics.
